The Sweetwater Police Department recently upgraded their Taser to the new T7. They donated Taser X2's to Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital for every security officer to have a non-lethal option for use of force. In the SPD's experience, Taser's greatly reduce the risk of injury to the public as well as officers by allowing for a safe use of force option when used in accordance with approved training and certification. SPD also donated several Taser cartridges for the X2 to help RPMH defray the cost of implementing a Taser program. In the coming weeks, the Sweetwater Police Department will have one of their department instructors work with the security team to train and certify the security officers on the X2 Taser.
