Not all rural hospitals have a full-service ICU; within the Big Country and the Concho Valley region, RPMH is the only full-service, fully staffed ICU in the regions with the exception of Hendrick Health Systems and Shannon Medical Center. The RPMH ICU is the only Acute Care General facility within multiple regions, the other rural facilities are critical access facilities with no ICU access. Along with the ICU beings fully functional, with the exception of Cardiac Cath Lab or Neuro services, RPMH does have full general and orthopedic surgical services, a full-service Cardiopulmonary Department that offers a full line of diagnostic service and any and all respiratory therapy modalities. Rolling Plains Memorial Hosptial is the only rural facility that has cardiopulmonary services staff 24/7.
